Black History Month x Blue Heart Foundation 2026

As February unfolds, we are excited to share our 6th year supporting The Blue Heart Foundation for our 2026 Black History Month Cause Coffee. We have donated over $12,000 in the 6 years we have proudly supported their mission. These donations have a direct, meaningful impact on their young men, helping them grow into confident, educated, and community-focused leaders. Here’s a glimpse into how your contribution is making a difference:
Empowering Academic Success
- Provides digital learning tools, workbooks, and personalized academic coaching, helping students strengthen their skills and build the confidence they need to excel in school and beyond.
- Supports hands-on STEM projects and workshops, exposing our young men to high-demand careers and essential skills for the future.
College and Career Preparation
- Funds portions of our annual HBCU tours, where students gain firsthand exposure to historic institutions, inspiring them to pursue higher education and discover new possibilities for their futures.
- Provides resume building and career readiness sessions, preparing our young men for internships, job interviews, and professional success.
Mental and Emotional Wellness
- Helps to cover the cost of journals, affirmation workbooks, and group reflection sessions, promoting positive self-image, emotional resilience, and mental health.

This February we are doing it again! $1 per bag of The Blue Heart Blend will be donated to The Blue Heart Foundation. You can shop the blend online or at one of our Bird Rock Coffee locations.
The Blue Heart Foundation: Empowering Youth, Shaping Futures
The Blue Heart Foundation is a San Diego-based nonprofit organization that stands as a beacon of hope and empowerment for young African American men facing economic, educational, and social challenges. Through mentorship, academic resources, and leadership training, the foundation aims to break cycles of poverty and inequality. Their programs instill confidence, nurture talent, and provide the tools necessary for personal and academic growth, helping these young individuals unlock their full potential.
By fostering leadership skills and building community, the Blue Heart Foundation creates pathways for success, transforming lives and shaping a brighter future for both individuals and their communities. Supporting the foundation means investing in the next generation of leaders, change-makers, and innovators.

Black History Month, celebrated annually in February, is a time to honor the rich tapestry of African American history, culture, and contributions. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the struggles, triumphs, and enduring legacies of Black individuals who have shaped history, often in the face of systemic injustice and adversity.
Rooted in the efforts of historian Carter G. Woodson, who established "Negro History Week" in 1926, Black History Month has since evolved into a month-long celebration of resilience, achievement, and progress. It is a time to amplify Black voices, elevate stories that have been marginalized, and recognize the invaluable contributions of Black leaders, artists, activists, and innovators across generations.
Why Celebrating Black History Month Matters
Black History Month is more than a celebration—it’s a call to action. By honoring the past, we can build a future rooted in equity, inclusion, and justice. It is a moment to affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every individual and acknowledge the ongoing struggle for racial equality.
As a company deeply committed to social responsibility, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters proudly celebrates Black History month and supports our Black communities. Our support for the Blue Heart Foundation during Black History Month is a tangible expression of our values—to empower communities and create positive change.
Thank you for supporting this mission year after year!
