Description

In the lush landscapes of southern Huila, El Cedro y El Bombo stands as a model of modern specialty coffee farming. The farm blends meticulous production practices with a deep respect for the environment. Spanning 12 hectares, with 10 dedicated to coffee, it serves as a testament to sustainable agriculture and exceptional cup quality.

A defining feature of the farm is its 2-hectare forest reserve, which supports biodiversity and provides natural shade essential for specialty coffee cultivation. The integration of cattle further reflects a holistic approach to land management, where livestock and coffee coexist in a balanced system.

The farm’s journey into specialty coffee began just five years ago, when its new owners transformed the existing plantation with a singular focus on quality. Their attention to detail, from seed selection to post-harvest processing, has elevated the farm’s coffees and strengthened its identity.

Environmental stewardship is central to El Cedro y El Bombo’s philosophy. Every practice is designed to nurture the land and preserve its long-term health, ensuring sustainability for future generations. The operation is also a family-driven effort, with a young couple at its core. The wife’s essential leadership role highlights the collaborative spirit that fuels the farm’s success. Together, they embody a shared passion for coffee that shines through in every lot.

As proud members of Asosatus, an association of roughly 60 families dedicated to differentiated coffees and innovation, the producers are strong advocates for purist processing methods that highlight the best attributes of each variety.

The farm also plays a vital role in the local community, generating more than 50 indirect jobs during harvest and traverse seasons. Its impact extends far beyond its borders, contributing meaningfully to the local economy.
